SECTION 1: Getting Started & Hardware Requirements
Hardware;
530k free memory - Files & buffers set to 30 (install will check)
- hard disk - Mono thru VGA supported
Hard Disk System;
Start your computer as you normally would.
Insert the TBC diskette - Type "A:INSTALL"
The program will check for all requirements and let you make any
changes. Also includes uninstall.
To start the program once it is installed just type "TBC" at any
dos prompt and the program will load.
If you have problem, make a directory and copy the files
TBC.EXE and TBC.DOC.
SECTION 2: Initialization Screen
When you first start The Book Collector, no information is present
for the program to use. Select the Add/delete selection in the
main menu screen. Enter the information on the screen (some items
are required). The Books of Interest and Dealer sections are the
same way, they all require at least one data item to be used.
SECTION 3: Using TBC
There are a few keys which you will need to know. They are the
Esc key (either exit the screen or move back in the entry screens)
Del key (removes a highlighted item form the list)
Page-Up, Page-Dn and arrow-keys (work as they indicate)
Tab key (move around in some screens)
F-keys (shown on screen when active)
Use the arrow-keys or Page-Up/Page-Dn to move through the lists
or menu screen. In some of the list screens you can type in a name
to search for, the search will use each character in order. ie: if
you type "F" the program will look for the first instance of letter
"F" and will highlight the first item it finds. If you then type in
another letter `F` - "i" the program will find the first instance
of the word that starts with "FI" and highlight that selection. If
you continue to type in a word the program will continue to narrow
the selections.
The program is very simple to use and all menu driven with help
screen throughout. The main thing that you need to remember is what
is descibed in section 2. The program does not have any data to look
for when it is first run so you must enter something in order to use
or view any of the lists.

use the program for a specific amount of time. This time will vary
from program to program. The grace period for this program is 3 weeks.

register with the author (see registration form below). If however
after the specified time you do not find the program useful you are
required to remove it from use. Remember that the shareware system
will only work if you support it by registering your program with the
author. This does a few thing like, encourage the authors of shareware

comments or suggestions you may have on The Book Collector.
